My name is Leonardo Torres, 31 years old. I was born in Jalisco, Mexico and i came to this country at age 2 to get away from a violent father. I was raised in the city of Compton. My mother and I would make trips to downtown LA all the time and I always dreamt of capturing all aspects of this beautiful city on film both good and the bad. I see it all as good, and love to capture shots that people usually turn their heads to.

An update from one of our earlier contributors,
Jon Countess . For those of you who don't remember his first post in 2012 here is his bio.
I was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. I studied photography at the San Francisco Art Institute. I moved to L.A. because my first wife wanted to be an actress. It was just one of the many mistakes that I have made.

The Photographs were made in 1983 primarily on Melrose Avenue, Hollywood Boulevard, Broadway Street and at Harbor View House in San Pedro.
I grew up in Anaheim in the shadow of Mickey Mouse's ears, left to study classical music performance at Indiana University, then returned to LA in 1981, where I've lived since. I recently re-discovered these images in an old portfolio and thought now is the time to bring them out!
